Africa-Press – Mauritius. Riyad Mahrez has shared a lighthearted memory of his time alongside N’Golo Kanté at Leicester City, revealing how the famously quiet midfielder once surprised him with an uncharacteristic outburst.
“Back at Leicester, N’Golo played as a right-sided midfielder, and I was also on the right,” Mahrez said. “I’ll be honest—I cheated a little and didn’t defend. He was so shy that he never said anything. But one day, he snapped and said, ‘Hey, Riyad, please, start defending.’ It shocked me—it was funny, and from that day, I started defending.”
The pair went on to win the 2015/16 Premier League title together, forming a key part of one of football’s greatest underdog stories.
