Gajjaluxmi Mootoosamy now leads the embassy in Washington after many years at the mission, where she rose from Minister Counsellor to Deputy Chief of Mission before being promoted to ambassador. Her career has been built within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, notably heading the section responsible for bilateral relations, and previously serving as First Secretary.
