Virtual Participation Cuts Mauritius's Contribution in Half

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Cabinet has noted that following the intervention of the Prime Minister at the 45th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the SADC in August 2025, an extraordinary meeting of the SADC Finance Subcommittee was chaired virtually by Mauritius on October 23 to discuss, among other matters, the outcome of the recalculation exercise of the additional member states’ contribution to the standby force mission of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

As a result of this exercise, Mauritius’s contribution was reduced from 15,463,954 USD to 7,663,993 USD. Therefore, an amount of 596,596 USD will be returned to Mauritius.
