Africa-Press – Mauritius. The President of the French Republic, Mr Emmanuel Macron, visited the French Navy patrol vessel ‘Champlain’ this morning. He was accompanied by the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, at Quay A, Port Louis Harbour, Mer Rouge.
The Minister of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy and Fisheries, Dr Arvin Boolell; the Ambassador of the European Union to Mauritius and Seychelles, Mr Oskar Benedikt; the Préfet of La Réunion, Mr Patrice Latron were also present.
During the visit, two memoranda were exchanged between the Mauritius Police Force and the French Armed Forces in the Southern Indian Ocean Zone (FAZSOI), focusing on enhanced cooperation in maritime security. These agreements aim to bolster the country’s maritime surveillance capabilities, improve coordinated responses to threats at sea, and further deepen the longstanding bilateral partnership between France and Mauritius.
This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to beef up security across the Indian Ocean region while strengthening operational collaboration between the two nations
