Africa-Press – Mauritius. Mauritius and Japan reaffirmed their shared vision to further deepen bilateral cooperation and work closely together in promoting environmental cooperation and resilience. The Ambassador of Japan to Mauritius, Mr Kan Masahiro underscored this commitment yesterday during a courtesy call on the Minister of Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change, Mr Rajesh Anand Bhagwan, in Port Louis.
In a statement following the meeting, the Ambassador highlighted the strong and enduring relationship between Mauritius and Japan, adding that both sides exchanged views on further enhancing technical cooperation. Key areas discussed included oil spill response and management as well as the strengthening of warning and preparedness capabilities and building resilience against climate-related risks.
The Ambassador commended the excellent state of Mauritius–Japan relations and reaffirmed Japan’s readiness to support Mauritius through continued cooperation in climate change adaptation, environmental protection, and disaster risk management.
