Africa-Press – Mauritius. AFCON 2025 authorities in Morocco have launched a large-scale crackdown on the illegal resale of match tickets, leading to the arrest of more than 110 people on Wednesday, December 31. According to information reported by AFP, the suspects face charges including illegal ticket resales, fraud, forgery, and the spread of false information linked to the tournament, which Morocco is currently hosting.
Investigators identified the network after a surge of advertisements on social media platforms offering AFCON tickets at prices far above their official value. The operation targeted several cities across the country. Some suspects were placed in custody, while others were released under judicial supervision, depending on the seriousness of their alleged involvement.
This issue has become one of the major headaches of AFCON 2025, as organizers continue to fight against ticket trafficking that disrupts access for genuine fans. Just a week earlier, Moroccan police had already arrested eight individuals in a similar case, underlining the scale of the problem and the authorities’ determination to put an end to it.
