Africa-Press – Mauritius. The President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Dharambeer Gokhool, renewed his commitment to working closely with diplomatic partners to strengthen cooperation, foster enduring bonds of friendship and enhance people-to-people ties.

Speaking yesterday at the reception he hosted in honour of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps at the State House, Réduit, the President also highlighted that diplomacy must extend beyond protocol to address the human dimension empowering youth, advancing education, celebrating culture and fostering social inclusion.

The Vice-President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Jean Yvan Robert Hungley; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Dhananjay Ramful; the Junior Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Hambyrajen Narsinghen; the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa, Dr Hlamalani Nelly Manzini as well as several diplomats were present at the reception.

The Head of State reflected on 2025, a year marked by intense diplomatic activity amid persistent geopolitical and economic uncertainty. He noted that despite these challenges, Mauritius demonstrated resilience and remained firmly guided by a clear and principled foreign policy, continuing to uphold international cooperation, multilateralism and enduring bonds of friendship with partner nations.

President Gokhool recalled the presentation of the Government Programme 2025–2029 describing it as a forward-looking roadmap founded on the principles of inclusion, resilience, and sustainable development. He underlined that national priorities including good governance, social cohesion, digital transformation, climate resilience and the development of human capital are closely aligned with Mauritius’ international responsibilities.

In this regard, he emphasised the importance of the ongoing work towards Mauritius Vision 2050 and stressed that the continued support, expertise, and cooperation of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps remain indispensable as Mauritius moves towards a future that is economically resilient, socially just and globally responsible.

The President further underscored the central role of the Presidency in projecting the values and aspirations of Mauritius on the international stage, rooted in respect for international law, human rights, and regional integration. Expressing sincere appreciation for the Diplomatic Corps’ sustained contribution to Mauritius’ development and global standing, he called for a renewed commitment to a diplomacy that promotes peace, prosperity, unity and shared humanity as the nation and its partners move together into 2026.
