Africa-Press – Mauritius. The pass rate for the Republic of Mauritius in the 2025 Higher School Certificate (HSC) examinations stands at 78.98%, representing 4,576 candidates.

A total of 5,794 students sat for the examinations, including 3,277 female candidates and 2,517 male candidates. Among those who passed, 2,657 were female students, achieving a pass rate of 81.08%, while 1,919 were male students, with a pass rate of 76.24%.

These figures were announced by the Director of the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (MES), Mr Serge Ng Tat Chung, during a press conference held yesterday in Réduit.

The Director of the MES commended the outstanding performance of several State Secondary Schools (SSS), including Lady Sushil Ramgoolam SSS, Rabindranath Tagore SSS, and Dr James Burty David SSS, as well as the private secondary institution Collège Sainte-Marie. He noted also that the group of traditionally high-performing colleges has broadened.

With regard to Rodrigues, the Director expressed satisfaction at the commendable performance of Le Chou College and Rodrigues College.

Mr Serge Ng Tat Chung also congratulated all candidates who sat for the 2025 HSC examinations, acknowledging that each had made every effort, according to their abilities, to achieve their best possible results.

Furthermore, he expressed gratitude to all personnel involved in the organisation and administration of the examinations, highlighting their dedication in ensuring the smooth conduct of all related activities.

Pass Rate for Mauritius

A total of 5,552 candidates sat for the HSC Examinations in 2025, comprising 3,133 female candidates and 2,419 male candidates.

The pass rate among female candidates stands at 81.23%, representing 2,545 successful students, while 76.40% of male candidates passed, accounting for 1,848 students.

Overall, the national pass rate for Mauritius is 79.12%, corresponding to 4,393 successful candidates.

Pass Rate for Rodrigues

Rodrigues recorded a pass rate of 75.62%, with 183 successful candidates out of a total of 242 who sat for the examinations in 2025. Among the 144 female candidates, 112 passed, representing a success rate of 77.78%. A total of 98 male candidates took part in the examinations, of whom 71 were successful, corresponding to a pass rate of 72.45%.
