Africa-Press – Mauritius. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world’s largest contract chipmaker, posted record first-quarter revenue on Friday, supported by continued strong demand for advanced semiconductors used in artificial intelligence applications.
The company said revenue for the January-March period rose to 1.13 trillion New Taiwan dollars ($35.6 billion), slightly above analysts’ estimates of $35.2 billion.
Revenue in March alone climbed 45.2% from a year earlier to $13.1 billion, underscoring continued strength in demand for high-end chips.
TSMC has emerged as one of the main beneficiaries of the global AI boom, producing advanced chips for major technology firms such as Apple and Nvidia as companies continue investing heavily in AI infrastructure and data centers.
The company’s latest sales figures also point to continued resilience in advanced semiconductor demand despite broader concerns over supply-chain disruptions linked to the conflict in the Middle East and the possible impact on global technology demand.
TSMC, which releases monthly revenue data but does not disclose detailed profitability figures outside its quarterly earnings reports, is scheduled to publish its full first-quarter results on April 16.
