Would the unvaccinated Air Mauritius (MK) Cabin Crew Members be replaced by those who are vaccinated? Sources say 115 Cabin Crew have received individual emails informing them that they will no longer be on flights if they are not vaccinated. “We have taken note of our roster. We are not even given time to go for the vaccine. We are penalized overnight, “says the Air Mauritius Cabin Crew Association (AMCCA). “But how is it that the Cabin Crew Members are not vaccinated? Aren’t they frontliners and they need to be vaccinated? ” one asks in the middle of MK.

According to crew members, there are no regulations regarding vaccination. “It is only recommended to be vaccinated,” explains a member of the association which includes cabin crews.

On the side of MK, it is maintained that according to the protocol cabin crews must be vaccinated. “The crew members had a vaccination session today.” Indeed, the personnel of the national aviation company can be vaccinated until July 31. An exercise started yesterday for the first dose. They must first register with the Economic Development Board.

According to the new health protocol, MK crew members are eligible to operate flights 14 days after inoculation of the two doses of vaccine. Indeed, a memo from the operations department mentions that all cabin crews must be “fully” vaccinated and wear only N95 masks. The same protocol will be applied for international flights except for those to India and South Africa. If necessary, crew members can perform a series of flights with hotel containment between flights. Upon arrival in Mauritius of the last flight in the series, staff must self-isolate at home for seven days with PCR tests on D-0 and D-7.

Series of flights are also authorized for India and South Africa. However, the protocol differs. Upon arrival of the crew in Mauritius from the last flight in the series, instead of self-isolation at home, the members will go into hotel confinement for seven days with PCR tests on D-0 and D -7.
