Civil Service Kermesse 2025 Highlights Public Officers' Role

Africa-Press – Mauritius. Public officers have played a vital role in driving the country’s development, and Government is actively implementing measures to strengthen their skills and capabilities in this fast-evolving technological era, stated the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, Mr Lutchmanah Pentiah.

He was speaking, yesterday at a press conference at the Gymkhana Grounds in Vacoas, ahead of the Civil Service Kermesse 2025 which is scheduled for Sunday 30 November 2025. The Secretary for Public Service, Dr Dhanandjay Kawol, and the Chairperson of the Public Officer’s Welfare Council (POWC), Ms Asha Koonjul, were also present.

Minister Pentiah praised public officers for the remarkable work they continue to deliver. He urged them to remain accountable, efficient, transparent, agile, and resilient in all circumstances and to respond effectively to the evolving needs of the public.

He recalled Government’s engagement to providing continuous training to enhance performance and improve service delivery. As part of these efforts, he announced the development of a new Performance Management System, aimed at ensuring greater objectivity and recognising deserving officers.

With regard to the preparations underway for the Kermesse, the Minister said that the event will facilitate fundraising initiatives as well as create a social and recreational space for public officers, their families and the wider community.

The POWC and the Ministry will organise a tombola during the event, with proceeds divided equally into five portions to purchase food and Christmas gifts for needy children and elderly persons across Mauritius.

Minister Pentiah encouraged public officers, their families, and the general public to take part in this festive and meaningful event. Around 100,000 attendees are expected.
