Facebook made the statement on its official social media pages.<\/p>\n

According to Facebook chief, Mark Zuckerberg, the parent company\u2019s name is being changed to \u201cMeta\u201d to represent a future beyond just its troubled social network.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the annual developer conference, he said, \u201cWe\u2019ve learned a lot from struggling with social issues and living under closed platforms, and now it is time to take everything that we\u2019ve learned and help build the next chapter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe metaverse is the next evolution of social connection.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a collective project that will be created by people all over the world, and open to everyone.<\/p>\n
