Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>A book of condolences was opened this morning at the Sir Harilal Vaghjee Memorial Hall in Port-Louis to pay tribute to former President of the Republic of Mauritius, Karl Auguste Offmann, GCSK, following his passing on March 12, 2022.<\/p>\n

The Acting President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr. Marie Cyril Eddy Boissezon, the Attorney General, Minister for Agribusiness and Food Security, Mr.<\/p>\n

Maneesh Gobin and other key personalities were present to express their condolences. In a statement, the interim president said the late Mr. Offmann had been known for a long time and expressed his deepest condolences to the grieving family.<\/p>\n

In addition, Mr. Boissezon paid tribute to his unwavering patriotism and devotion to the Republic. \u2018He was an outstanding model of altruism and worked selflessly for the well-being of others,\u2019 stressed the Acting President.<\/p>\n

Mr. Maneesh Gobin remembered the former president as a great statesman and supported his strong notion of discipline in political affairs. This principle has also allowed him to overcome various struggles throughout his life, said the Minister.<\/p>\n

Mr. Gobin also indicated that Mr. Offmann has always been supportive and offered friendly advice to young and new politicians in whom he instilled his principles of discipline. As for the Ambassador of the Republic of France in Mauritius, Ms.<\/p>\n

Florence Causs\u00e9-Tissier, she underlined that President Offmann\u2019s strong sense of commitment and devotion as a political figure and citizen is undoubtedly highlighted throughout his political career.<\/p>\n

She displayed a sense of humanism in the way he served the citizens of the Republic and the government institutions, she noted. Also present, the Representative of the World Health Organization in Mauritius, Dr.<\/p>\n

Laurent Musango, stated that he wished to express his condolences to the Republic of Mauritius for the loss of a great statesman, who, he emphasized, has contributed significantly to the progress of the country.<\/p>\n

. His values \u200b\u200band principles of life as a family man, in addition to being the personification of kindness and humility, made Mr. Karl Auguste Offmann a role model for all citizens, he added. Likewise, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr.<\/p>\n

Alya\u2019a Samir Borhan, expressed the Egyptian Government\u2019s deep condolences to Mauritius, saying that the former President was a great leader and highly respected in Africa.<\/p>\n

He reaffirmed Egypt\u2019s intention to stand in solidarity with Mauritius in such difficult times and renewed his commitment to strengthening the bilateral relations of the two countries.<\/p>\n
