Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>Chandigarh: Indian golf icon Jeev Milkha Singh will make his Legends Tour debut next month with the season-ending MCB Tour Championship in Mauritius from April 1-3.<\/p>\n

Chandigarh\u2019s Jeev will be competing with the likes of Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bj\u00f8rn, 2005 U. S. Open champion Michael Campbell, 1999 British Open winner Paul Lawrie and defending champion Jarmo Sandelin.<\/p>\n

A four-time winner on the rebranded DP World Tour, Jeev’s last victory in Europe came at the Scottish Open way back in 2012. The 50-year-old admitted that he is excited to join the field in Mauritius, however the past few years have been perplexing for both him and his family.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so excited about making my debut on the Legends Tour at Constance Belle Mare Plage in Mauritius.<\/p>\n

I am so looking forward to playing against guys my own age,\u201d he said. \u201cOn a more serious note, the last few years have been tumultuous for me and my family.<\/p>\n

Ever since I won the Scottish Open in 2012, I have struggled with a series of injuries. \u201d\u201cAnd the past couple of years, as a nation we have faced a lot of hardship because of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

I personally lost both my mother and father within a space of five days last year, which was very tough to handle,\u201d he added. In a Legends Tour statement, the veteran golfer added, \u201cHowever, I am sure my parents would want me to continue with my life.<\/p>\n

Golf is the only thing I have known for nearly 35 years, and I think nothing will give them greater pleasure than me doing well on the golf course once again.<\/p>\n

\u201d Interestingly, Thomas Bj\u00f8rn made his Legends Tour debut in 2021 after an incredible career on the European Tour, winning a total of 15 times.<\/p>\n

The Dane is looking forward to the final event of the season at the magnificent Constance Belle Mare Plage. \u201cIt doesn’t get any better than ending your season in a place like Mauritius and I am so excited to get out to the Indian Ocean in December.<\/p>\n

I have really enjoyed the events I’ve played on the Legends Tour this year. It’s given me the chance to compete for silverware as well as being able to catch up with old friends who I haven’t seen much in recent years.<\/p>\n

I know there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes to make the 10th anniversary of this event extra special and I’m ready to get my first taste of a tournament, which is held in such high regard,\u201d Bj\u00f8rn said.<\/p>\n

The final event of the Legends Tour will also decide the Order of Merit with four players well within contention to claim top spot with Senior British Open winner Stephen Dodd of Wales in top spot. He is closely followed by Thomas Levet in second place, Markus Brier lies in third place and James Kingston in fourth.<\/p>\n
