Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The awareness campaign of the Cim group continues in Rodrigues. Tim Taylor Chairman of Cim CSR Fund Ltd traveled to Rodrigues for the launch of the campaign which is already in its practical phase in Mauritius.<\/p>\n

In the presence of the Chief Commissioner of Rodrigues, Serge Clair, he pleaded for education around drugs to be rethought in order to stop this scourge.<\/p>\n

After the official launch of the campaign at the Cotton Bay Hotel, Rodrigues, in early September, an awareness session took place where all those present were able to better understand the risks associated with drug use and the different types of drugs.<\/p>\n

Cim Group launched this social initiative last May in Mauritius, with the support of the Ministry of Education, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to help fight this scourge that affects many Mauritians.<\/p>\n

In Rodrigues, a new chapter has begun with “Train the Trainer” training courses which have been organized with rectors, educators, social workers, medical personnel, police officers and NGOs, over a period of three days.<\/p>\n

The intention behind this training, which should affect around thirty people, is to help them in turn become a source of information for students and that those trained follow the curriculum developed for this program in Rodriguan schools from January 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cCim Group has always worked with the goal of helping communities grow and flourish.<\/p>\n

We naturally joined this project to contribute to the well-being of the community and it was also normal for us to extend it to Rodrigues Island where our children are just as at risk.<\/p>\n

We are committed to the national response in the field of drug use prevention and are convinced that this type of initiative will make a major contribution to the development of our children,” said Tim Taylor, following the launch of the initiative in Rodrigues.<\/p>\n

This initiative was set up as part of a series of activities around the prevention of drug addiction among 12-16 year olds in schools. Drug use among young people has been on the rise in recent years and the curriculum developed by specialists aims to educate young people and help prevent drug use.<\/p>\n

In the near future, this initiative is set to become a national reference and should serve as a basis for the implementation of similar programs in schools across the country.<\/p>\n
