Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The Ambassador of Turkey to Mauritius, Mr Nuri Kaya Bakkalbasi, presented, today, his Letter of Credence to the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, at the State House, Reduit.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Ambassador Bakkalbasi stated that discussions with the President focused on the reinforcement of bilateral relations between Turkey and Mauritius.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that several areas of cooperation were identified, namely in the fields of tourism, fisheries, agriculture, and commerce. He further underlined that Mauritius enjoys political and social stability.<\/p>\n

According to him, both countries should promote investment and trade adding that it is imperative to meet the private sector in Mauritius to discuss the avenues of cooperation for trade.<\/p>\n

Mr Nuri Kaya Bakkalbasi graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of International Relations, Turkey, in 1988. In the same year, he entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and worked in the Ministry and abroad.<\/p>\n

He occupied several posts during his career, namely Head of the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Head of the Border Department; First Undersecretary (Envoy-Undersecretary) at the Baku Embassy between 2010 to 2012.<\/p>\n

He was also Ambassador in the Turkish Embassy in Kito between January 2012 to November 2013 and Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 2015 and 2016.<\/p>\n

He then became the San Hose Ambassador in January 2020. He started his duty as the Turkish Ambassador to Antananarivo (accredited to the Republic of Mauritius and the Union of Comoros) on January 31, 2020.<\/p>\n
