Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>Sponsorship agreements were signed, today, at the C\u00f4te d\u2019Or National Sports Complex in the context of the 22nd African Senior Athletics Championships which will be hosted from 08 to 12 June 2022 in Mauritius.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, Mr Jean Christophe Stephan Toussaint, and the President of the Organising Committee, Mr Giandev Moteea, were present at the signing ceremony.<\/p>\n

The sponsors are as follows: Quality Beverages (Platinum Sponsor- Rs 2.7 million); Omnicane (Silver Sponsor \u2013 Rs 500,000); C-Care (Silver Sponsor \u2013Rs 500,000); City Sports (Bronze Sponsor- Rs 250,000); and Mauritius Housing Company (Rs 50,000).<\/p>\n

In his address, Minister Toussaint indicated that all stakeholders are preparing themselves to make the 22nd African Senior Athletics Championships a major success for athletes in the African region.<\/p>\n

The signing of sponsorship agreements, he said, demonstrates the strong partnership that exists between the public and private sectors. The two sectors are doing their best to ensure that the upcoming Games are organised smoothly, he indicated.<\/p>\n

Minister Toussaint expressed satisfaction as regards the assistance provided by the private partners despite the COVID-19 situation and the Ukraine-Russia War. The Games, he underlined, is an occasion for the youth to widen their networking and compete with international athletes.<\/p>\n

For his part, Mr Moteea stated that all stakeholders are providing their assistance in terms of infrastructure, registration, equipment and sheltering of athletes, amongst others.<\/p>\n

He indicated that trials are being carried out to ensure that the Games take place in the best possible conditions. He lauded the efforts of the private sector for their support and for bringing in significant contribution in the empowerment of young athletes.<\/p>\n
