Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>Emtel Ltd, EO Solutions, and DHL, have joined the list of official sponsors for the upcoming 22nd African Senior Athletics Championship which will take place from 08 to 12 June 2022 in Mauritius.<\/p>\n

A signing ceremony of agreements to that end was held, this afternoon, at the C\u00f4te d\u2019Or National Sports Complex in the presence of the President of the Organising Committee, Mr Giandev Moteea.<\/p>\n

The three sponsors are bringing in their contributions as follows: Emtel Ltd (Platinum sponsor)- Rs 3.2 million; EO Solutions (Bronze sponsor) – Rs 185,000; and, DHL (Bronze sponsor) \u2013 some Rs 100,000.<\/p>\n

In his address, Mr Moteea expressed gratitude to the sponsors for their engagement in the holding of the coming Championship adding that this demonstrates the commitment and patriotism of the companies towards the sports world and the youths around the world.<\/p>\n

The President lauded the efforts of the private partners who are providing assistance amid the difficult economic situation as regards the Ukraine and Russia War.<\/p>\n

This agreement also marks the strong partnership between the public and private sectors who are working hand in hand to make the event a success, he added.<\/p>\n

Mr Moteea stressed that this is also a great opportunity for the youth to widen their networking with other international athletes and increase their potentials to compete in the Games.<\/p>\n

On this note, he pointed out that trials are still being carried out to ensure that the Games take place in the best possible conditions. The President further recalled that today\u2019s event represents the fourth edition of signature of sponsorship agreements with these three sponsors joining the previous 15 sponsors so far.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs at date, we have reached a contribution of Rs 13 million from the sponsors and hopefully, this amount will increase next week with the holding of another signature of agreements,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n

As regards preparations for the Games, he declared that they are very intense as the Championship is only 20 days away, and, with the number of participants constantly increasing and given the enthusiasm that the concerned countries are showing, additional works compared to the initial estimates are required.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are monitoring the preparations at all levels and the Committee is working hard and regularly to ensure that the hosting of the Championship is carried out in the best possible conditions,\u201d the President underpinned.<\/p>\n

Mr Moteea further underlined that there are currently 800 participants including 200 managers and, out of 54 countries that form part of the Confederation of African Athletics, 43 countries have already submitted their nominal lists.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we believe in fair play in sports, if there are any latecomers to register, they will not be penalised and will be encouraged to participate in this Championship,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
