Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The Special Advisor to the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Dr Shinichi Kitaoka, and his delegation, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, this afternoon, at the New Treasury Building, in Port Louis.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Dr Kitaoka highlighted that the meeting with the Prime Minister was fruitful and focused primarily on how Japan\u2019s experience as regards modernisation can be beneficial to developing countries such as Mauritius.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the former JICA President, I am now exploring the project and, in this context, I am establishing a JICA Chair in which important studies pertaining to modernisation are being carried out in many countries and will soon be extended to the University of Mauritius,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Special Advisor pointed out that he also communicated his desire to strengthen business relations between Japan and Africa through Mauritius with the Prime Minister, and highlighted that even though Mauritius is a country with low population, very good bilateral relationships can be established through exchanges between the peoples, such as with the youths, businessmen, and academic professionals.<\/p>\n
