Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) Representative for Madagascar, Comoros, Mauritius and Seychelles, Dr Mbuli Charles Boliko, paid a courtesy call on the Attorney General, Minister of Agro-Industry and Food Security, this morning, at the seat of his Ministry, in Port Louis.<\/p>\n

In a statement following the courtesy call, Dr Boliko highlighted that the meeting with the Minister focused on identifying different areas of cooperation pertaining to the agricultural sector and food security, and how these collaborations can be maximised.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also talked about how food can be produced in a more efficient manner that is both climate-smart and nutrition-sensitive,\u201d he pointed out.<\/p>\n

Discussions, the FAO Representative underlined, also pertained on how Mauritius can help as regards regional integration, in particular among the Indian Ocean countries since Mauritius has a lot of experience with high standards when it comes to food safety and security.<\/p>\n

On this score, Dr Boliko emphasised that this is the kind of knowledge and experience that can be shared with other countries within the region such as Comoros and Madagascar so that food may be produced without destroying the environment and keeping the prices low.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we succeed in making regional integration work, I think we will go a long way in improving food security and good nutrition within the region,\u201d he stressed. The courtesy call was followed by a signature ceremony of the Country Programming Framework 2022-2025.<\/p>\n
