Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>A ceremony to reward four students from the village of Le Morne for having excelled in their PSAC examinations 2020-2021, was held, yesterday, at the seat of the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage, in Port-Louis.<\/p>\n

The students, from Le Morne Government School, are Auguste Morgan Berenice, Baillias Jean Tafari Jeremy, Labeaute Louis Brice Ulrich, and Larusee Cornellio Nathanael.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo; the Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck; and the President of Le Morne Heritage Trust Fund, Mr Jean Claude Jance, were present at the ceremony.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Minister Ganoo spoke of the role of the youth at all level in society while adding that education is key for them to grow in their career path. He congratulated the students of Le Morne village for having excelled in their exams and encouraged them to work harder in their future studies.<\/p>\n

For his part, Minister Teeluck underlined that Government is mandated under the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) International Convention to cater for the social and economic development of the inhabitants of Le Morne village following its inscription on UNESCO\u2019s World Heritage List.<\/p>\n

The remittance of gift vouchers to the students of Le Morne village forms part of this initiative to socially empower them, he indicated. The Minister further highlighted that the Ministry will organise a workshop for the fishermen of the village to make them aware of the various schemes and measures put in place by Government to facilitate their work and help them earn a better living.<\/p>\n
