Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, paid tribute to late Sir Anerood Jugnauth, this morning, at his samadhi at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden in Pamplemousses.
\nMr Roopun also had a tour of an exhibition, organised by the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage at the Ch\u00e2teau Mon Plaisir, retracing the milestones and key moments in the life of Sir Anerood Jugnauth.
\nThe Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck, and other personalities were also present on this occasion. In a statement, President Roopun highlighted that this was a moment of deep emotion for him as, about a year ago, the country unfortunately lost one of its greatest leaders.
\nThe exhibition, he observed, brought back many memories as it summed up the life of Sir Anerood Jugnauth and showcased the country\u2019s transformation under his leadership.
\n\u201cThe evolution of Mauritius, since the 1980s to date, makes us proud to be Mauritians and to have known such a personality who had an exceptional vision for the country,\u201d stated President Roopun.<\/p>\n

He also emphasised that Sir Anerood Jugnauth had a degree of discernment that few people could boast of having and which enabled him to understand various concepts and put them into practice.
\nFurthermore, President Roopun recalled that Sir Anerood Jugnauth had a strong character that allowed him to face adversity, such as, for instance, his fight for the restitution of the sovereignty over the Chagos Archipelago to the Republic of Mauritius.
\nAccording to him, Sir Anerood Jugnauth always worked to achieve his goals, and present as well as future generations would gain a lot from being inspired by this tribune of the people. In addition, Mr Roopun commended the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage for having organised this exhibition.
\nHe also invited all Mauritians to come and draw, through this exhibition, inspiration from the journey of Sir Anerood Jugnauth in order to be able to work with the same determination for the progress of the country.<\/p>\n
