Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>Mauritius is removing most of its Covid restrictions, including the requirement for travellers to test upon arrival. From July 1, Covid tests for all arrivals will be dropped, meaning international travellers can enter without the need to test, show proof of vaccination or proof of recovery.
\nAdditionally, the country\u2019s face mask mandate will be relaxed, although masks will still be required in hospitals, airports and on public transport. Mauritius reopened its borders to international visitors in October 2021, but was forced to impose a raft of Covid restrictions after cases surged.
\nThe country has hailed its vaccination campaign and low infection rate as it prepares to relax its restrictions once again. Arvind Bundhun, director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, said he was \u201cextremely pleased\u201d the restrictions are being lifted as Mauritius is seeing \u201chuge demand\u201d from travellers.
\nHe said: \u201cI am confident that our post-pandemic recovery is well underway, and with the easing of sanitary measures, bookings for the second half of 2022 will be stimulated.\u201d<\/p>\n
