A project team from the Japan International Cooperation Agency, OAFIC Co.<br \/>\nLtd and IC Net Ltd, actually present in Mauritius, gave a presentation on the methods that can be used by the fishing community with a view to improving their livelihood. The presentation involved the different types of fishing including large net fishing, basket trap fishing and tuna fishing.<br \/>\nThe post-harvest handling of fish on-board, the post-harvest handling of fish at landing stations, the post-harvest handling of fish at shops were elaborated by the Japanese experts.<br \/>\nThe value-added activity by fishers in Japan such as the use of instant killing techniques, \u2018Ikejime\u2019, was also highlighted by the experts.
