Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The 2022 Junior Chamber International (JCI) Mauritius Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) Award, was held, today, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, the 2022 JCI Mauritius National President, Mr Narotumdass Rohee, and other personalities at Voila Bagatelle, Moka.
\nIn his address, the President indicated that the theme for this 36th edition of JCI TOYP award, \u201cNou Zeness, Nou Lavenir\u201d is most fitting as it is in line with the idea that the youth is the strength of the country and needs to be empowered.
\nHe expressed satisfaction that even in times of unprecedented challenges and uncertainties such as COVID-19, our youth still cared enough to engage in volunteering activities and tried to make a difference not just for themselves, but also for the general well-being of the community in their respective ways.<\/p>\n

Mr Roopun underscored that over the years, JCI has made a positive contribution to the advancement of the global community by providing opportunities for young people to develop their leadership and social responsibility, and other skills.
\n\u201cThis award ceremony is testimony to the promotion of recognition and empowerment of youths,\u201d he said.
\nThe President further highlighted that JCI provides four areas of opportunities namely, individual development through trainings, business and entrepreneurship through programs, community action through projects and international collaboration through events such as the TOYP.
\nJCI, he indicated, has additionally been celebrating and promoting young people who achieve excellence in various areas of interest and encouraging them to go further, posing them as inspirational figures and role models for other young people.<\/p>\n

President Roopun also mentioned that he had the opportunity to meet JCI Vice President for Africa and the Middle East, Mr Richard Ojo, during his visit to Mauritius in May, and key areas on which our young people should focus and how they should act collectively with other counterparts to promote common interests globally were discussed.
\nYouths, the President emphasised, when it comes to building our global future, are the biggest assets as future leaders. On this score, he urged the youths to contribute to lead the country, innovate and to continue to be resilient as nothing happens without perseverance and dedication.
\nFor his part, the JCI National President, Mr Rohee, pointed out that JCI members are from diverse background and are present in 5 000 communities across nearly 120 countries worldwide, all bounded by one mission and one vision: the initiative to solve local challenges sustainably.<\/p>\n

By recognising these young people, JCI Mauritius seek to raise the status of socially responsible leaders in the country, he pointed out. The JCI National President further announced the upcoming of an interesting initiative from JCI Mauritius which is the TOYP Alumni whereby members are looking forward to creating a<\/p>\n

network of TOYP participants through a selection in the aim of a \u201cthink thank\u201d, as per the JCI Networking Course; \u201cyour network is your net worth\u201d. The 2022 JCI Mauritius Outstanding Young Persons Award
\nThe JCI TOYP Awards formally recognises and honours young people who excel in their chosen fields and create positive change. By recognizing these young people, JCI raises the status of socially responsible leaders in this world.
\nThe honorees motivate their peers to seek excellence and serve others. Their stories of discovery, determination and ingenuity inspire young people to be better leaders and create better societies.
\nThe winner of the 2022 JCI Mauritius Outstanding Young Persons Award is Ms Hosanee Yeesht Devisingh. The first and second runners-up are Mr Labont\u00e9 Laurent, and Ms Perrine Marie St\u00e9phania, respectively, followed by fourth and fifth nominees are Ms Andrianina Stephania and Dr Michael LF Pompeia.<\/p>\n
