Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The winners of the Solo Instrumental Music Contest, held under the theme Zwe To Lamisik, were proclaimed on 1st July 2022, during a ceremony held at the C\u00f4te d’Or National Sports Complex, in the presence of the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, Mr Jean Christophe Stephan Toussaint.
\nThe competition was intended for two categories of participants, namely those aged from 14 to 20 years old, and those aged between 21 to 35 years old.
\nSome 54 videos were received: 38 for the 14-20 category, and 16 in the 21-35 category. Out of these, 11 finalists were selected: six in the 14-20 category, and five in the 21-35 category.<\/p>\n

Winners of the 14-20 years old category The first prize was awarded to Raoelison Livaharivony Fandresena, who received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a trophy.
\nThe second prize went to Stahn Abichaek Latcheemoonah, who received a cash prize of Rs 7,000. The third prize was won by Julien Emmanuel Mounien and Dwayne O\u2019Brien Noah Tanner, who each received a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and a trophy.
\nWinners of the 21-35 years old category The first prize winner was Yoan Monty, who received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a trophy. The second prize was awarded to Steve Collet, who received a cash prize of Rs 7,000 and a trophy.<\/p>\n

The third prize was given to Derek Mahomudally, who received a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and a trophy. Celebrating World Music Day In his address, Mr Toussaint stated that the event was organised by the Ministry in the context of World Music Day, celebrated on 21st June.<\/p>\n

He underlined the commitment of the officers of his Ministry to continuously provide different platforms to the youths so that they engage in creative and artistic activities.
\n\u201cThese,\u201d he added, \u201care intended to promote the exploration of their unique talents and skills.
\n\u201d The Minister lauded all the finalists for their participation in the competition, and said that they were all winners. He also hailed the unconditional support of their parents for backing up their children in these endeavours.
\nThe Minister recalled that the Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l’Oc\u00e9an Indien (CJSOI) Games would be held in Mauritius in December, this year, during which a wide array of sports and cultural activities would be hosted.
\nHe announced that the Ministry would consider integrating the finalists of the competition in the Games. Furthermore, Minister Toussaint renewed his intent to cater for the needs and welfare of the youths of the Republic of Mauritius.<\/p>\n
