Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>A team from the Liverpool Football Club International Academy (LFCIA) Mauritius, comprising 16 players aged between 17 and 18 years old, and led by the Head Coach, Mr Neil Murphy, are gearing up for their first-ever football tour to the United Kingdom (UK), scheduled from 21 to 30 July 2022. Five Mauritian support staff will also be accompanying the team.
\nA presentation of the players was held, this afternoon, at C\u00f4te d’Or National Sports Complex, in the presence of the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, Mr Stephan Toussaint; the Chief Operating Officer of the Mauritius Multipurpose Infrastructure Limited, Mr Ben Hiddlestone, and other personalities.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Minister Toussaint expressed his appreciation for the Head Coach and his crew in contributing to raise the standard of football in Mauritius.<\/p>\n

Recalling that it was now three years since the LFCIA-Mauritius was established, he highlighted the opportunities provided to both trainers and players to further their skills and competences.<\/p>\n

Addressing the young players, Mr Toussaint congratulated them as their efforts had been recognised and rewarded. He urged them to seize this golden occasion to strive and make both their parents and their country proud.<\/p>\n

For his part, the LFCIA-Mauritius Head Coach underlined that it was a talented group of young players who would play three showcase matches against professional teams in the north, centre and south of the UK.<\/p>\n

He stated that it would provide a chance for the selected players to gauge their performance and demonstrate their talents on a professional and international stage.<\/p>\n

Mr Neil Murphy thus looked forward to a fruitful tour where the Mauritian side would be confident to express themselves effectively on the field while optimistically attracting the attention of football scouts and agents.
\nAs for the captain of the team, Mr Ethaniel Beesela, he affirmed that it was another significant milestone for him and his fellow team members in achieving their football dream. He further spoke about exploiting fully the openings offered to test themselves and be a source of pride for the country.<\/p>\n
