Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary-General of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OILF), Mrs Louise Mushikiwabo, paid a courtesy call on the Acting President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Marie Cyril Eddy Boisse\u0301zon, at the State House in Re\u0301duit, this afternoon.
\nShe arrived in Mauritius this morning for a four-day visit during which she will meet various Ministers.
\nIn a statement after her meeting with the Acting President, Mrs Louise Mushikiwabo said that her visit to the country is of major importance, as Mauritius shares a long existing relation with the OILF since its setting up. She observed that Mauritius enjoys a good reputation in the Indian Ocean region due to its continuous progress and added that the country is a gateway to the world.
\nThe OILF Secretary-General further pointed out that the aim of the meeting with the Acting President was to strengthen the existing relations between Mauritius and the OILF by increasing proximity between both parties and by undertaking closer collaborations.
\nShe informed that various topics were brought forth during discussions, namely: global matters, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the food crisis, climate actions, and the environment.
\nIn addition, she highlighted that they discussed the possibility of collaborating in the digital field as well as promoting the French language in Mauritius.<\/p>\n
