Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The High Commissioner of New Zealand to Mauritius, Dr Emma Rebecca Dunlop-Bennett, presented her credentials to the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, this morning, at the State House in Re\u0301duit.<\/p>\n

In a statement after the meeting, Dr Dunlop-Bennett highlighted that it is a privilege for her to meet the President and to represent New Zealand as its High Commissioner to Mauritius.<\/p>\n

The meeting, she underlined, focused on the strong connections that New Zealand and Mauritius share as well as the areas that both countries have in common and how to further build on those going forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs High Commissioner, it is very important that I serve Mauritius through a partnership approach, one where we will be partners of equal standing, aligned to the three principles that underpin New Zealand\u2019s foreign policy,\u201d she stressed.<\/p>\n

On this note, she outlined that New Zealand\u2019s foreign policy is guided by the values derived from their bicultural heritage, namely: \u2018Kotahitanga\u2019, which means going together as one and delivering as one; \u2018Manaakitanga\u2019, that is, to look out and care for each other; and \u2018Whanaungatanga\u2019, that is, focusing on the partnership and placing people at the heart of diplomacy.<\/p>\n

Prior to her meeting with the President, High Commissioner Dunlop-Bennett presented her \u201cCopie d\u2019Usage\u201d to the Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr Haymandoyal Dillum, in Port-Louis.<\/p>\n
