Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>When you think Air Mauritius, don\u2019t just think the picture-postcard Indian Ocean island \u2014 consider it the gateway to Africa and a great option to Europe.<\/p>\n

That is the message from Air Mauritius, which relaunched twice weekly services to Perth on Wednesday with its new generation Airbus A330-900neo. The airline will fly from Mauritius to Perth on Tuesdays and Saturdays, returning to Mauritius on Wednesdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n

Laurent Recoura, chief commercial officer at Air Mauritius, said that it was wonderful to be back in Perth. \u201cAir Mauritius is more than just a great airline to fly to Mauritius, it\u2019s a new option to connect to many other popular countries and cities for West Australians,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe airline serves Paris Charles de Gaulle on a daily basis, with more than 70 connecting destinations beyond Paris CDG with Air France, including 40 codeshare destinations.<\/p>\n

London Heathrow is currently operated three times weekly and we are pleased to announce that a fourth and fifth flight will be added as from November 15,\u201d the industry veteran said.<\/p>\n

Mr Recoura said Air Mauritius operated one of the world\u2019s youngest fleets comprising four Airbus A350-900, which are configured with 28 lie-flat seats in business class and 298 economy class seats, and two Airbus A330-900neo configured in 28 business class lie-flat seats and 260 economy class seats.<\/p>\n

To Africa, Air Mauritius flies daily to Johannesburg and from November 16, the airline will be operating two weekly flights to Cape Town, until mid-January 2023.<\/p>\n

Air Mauritius flies to Antananarivo in Madagascar four times weekly and multiple daily flights are operated to the nearby islands of Reunion and Rodrigues.<\/p>\n

\u201cMauritius has proved itself to be a world-in-one island.<\/p>\n

Its exotic blend of European, African, Chinese and Indian culture, white beaches and exhilarating adventure make it a great destination for Australians.<\/p>\n

The direct connection not only represents the best and fastest way to travel to Mauritius, but also allows passengers to benefit from Air Mauritius\u2019 international and domestic network and reach beyond destinations in Africa, Europe, Asia and the Indian Ocean islands,\u201d Mr Recoura added.<\/p>\n

The A330-900neo that operates the Perth flight is a step change from the A330 operated by Qantas, with the latest generation engines, which consume 25 per cent less fuel than the previous model.<\/p>\n

The interior features Airbus\u2019 new Airspace interior with more room and additional overhead baggage space as well as the latest in-flight entertainment.<\/p>\n

Perth Airport chief executive Kevin Brown described Air Mauritius\u2019 decision to return to Perth Airport as \u201cgreat news for the travelling public and showed the airline\u2019s commitment to maintaining its connection to Western Australia\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cMauritius is a popular travel destination for the leisure market and is important for international students, with Curtin University having a campus there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Air Mauritius is a highly rated airline, achieving the highest seven-star safety and product rating on Airlineratings. com and rated four stars out of five by rating agency Skytrax.<\/p>\n

At the World Travel Awards 2021, Air Mauritius was the winner as the Indian Ocean\u2019s Leading Airline Economy Class 2021 and the Indian Ocean\u2019s Leading Airline Brand 2021.<\/p>\n
