Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) Triennale Conference on Education, concluded on the strengthening of regional collaboration and putting in place an Action Plan to support African countries in facing challenges, stated the the Vice-Prime Minister (VPM), Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, on 21 October 2022, at Le Me\u0301ridien Hotel in Pointe-aux-Piments.<\/p>\n

She was speaking at a press conference following the closing ceremony of the ADEA Triennale Conference on Education in the presence of the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Monica Musenero; the Executive Secretary of the ADEA, Mr Albert Nsengiyumva; and other personalities.<\/p>\n

The conference, held from 19 to 21 October 2022 in Mauritius, brought together 884 participants from African countries comprising 345 in persons and 539 in attendance virtually to share perspectives and challenges in the educational and technical sector.<\/p>\n

VPM Dookun-Luchoomun pointed out that it has been an honour to host the Triennale conference in Mauritius while emphasising that it has brought fruitful and positive discussions at an opportune time following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Africa, she said, is reinventing, rethinking and reimagining itself. The need therefore is to contextualise strategies and mechanisms to cater to the requirements of each country, she added.<\/p>\n

Discussions at the conference, she further indicated, focused on the importance of early childhood learning to ensure that the base is being taught in an adequate manner.<\/p>\n

Other issues on the agenda comprised the reflection on human capital to empowering teachers to face challenges and the importance of technical and vocational education and training for skills development in technical areas.<\/p>\n

The creation of exchange platforms for pre-primary, primary and technical education was also elaborated by VPM Dookun-Luchoomun. For her part, Dr Musenero dwelt on the need for Africa to come together and work as a continent for better outcomes.<\/p>\n

She explained that it is high time to put ideas into practice to bring about changes and action. The imperative for strong leadership across the continent and active Member States are key for Africa to move forward, she observed.<\/p>\n

As for Mr Nsengiyumva, he commended Mauritius for measures put in place in the educational sector during the pandemic. He further stressed on building more resilience to sustain the educational system of Africa in case of future challenges.<\/p>\n
