Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>In the context of the Human Rights Day observed annually on 10 December, an online quiz aiming to test one\u2019s knowledge and promote greater understanding of human values, was launched today by the Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo, in Port-Louis.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Minister Ganoo underlined that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations on 10 December 1948 following the disastrous impact of the Second World War.<\/p>\n

The declaration, he underlined, outlines thirty rights and freedoms that belong to each individual highlighting that the day is a reminder to mankind to stand up for and to continuously strive for Human Rights.<\/p>\n

In view to promote a change in attitude, mindset and educate the population, the Minister pointed out that a series of activities line with the call of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to stand up for Human Rights are being organised.<\/p>\n

They comprise: an Art Atelier for vulnerable children at Plaza Municipal Hall; slam competition for the youth; and production of calendar 2023 portraying articles on human rights. Speaking on the online quiz, he indicated, that it is an innovative means of promoting awareness on human rights.<\/p>\n

It also aims to encourage a better understanding of human rights by testing one\u2019s knowledge on topics relating to the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, he underpinned.<\/p>\n

The online quiz, he underscored, will be readily accessible to internet users of all age groups adding that it is an interesting and fun way to impart knowledge through the use of new technology. The Minister urged the population to take the online quiz and participate actively in the other activities.<\/p>\n
