Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>In the context of the Human Rights Day observed each year on 10 December, an Art Atelier was launched, today at the Plaza Municipal Hall in Rose-Hill, for vulnerable children aged between eight and twelve years.<\/p>\n

The theme retained for this year is Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All. The Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo, was present on this occasion.<\/p>\n

This initiative aims at encouraging the children to convey, through drawings, their creativity and understanding of human rights on themes such as the right to food, right to clean air and right to water.<\/p>\n

The atelier is being conducted with the assistance of water colour artists from the International Watercolor Society Mauritius, who will guide the children in painting techniques.<\/p>\n

Minister Ganoo dwelt on the need to create awareness on human rights adding that it is important for each individual to know their rights so as to seek justice, equality, peace and freedom.<\/p>\n

He underlined that several activities are being organised to mark the Human Rights Day including a slam competition for youngsters aged between 15 to 25 years, online quiz and a calendar for 2023 displaying articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The finals of the slam competition will be held on 10 December at the MITD house in Phoenix, he informed.<\/p>\n
