Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>In the context of the Festival Kiltir Ek Langaz Kreol Morisien 2022, a Sware Poezi aiming to enhance the visibility of artists and provide them with a platform to demonstrate their talents on the creole culture and language, was held on Saturday 10 December 2022, at the Nelson Mandela Centre in La Tour Koenig.<\/p>\n

The Acting Prime Minister, Minister of Housing and Land Use Planning, Minister of Tourism, Mr Louis Steven Obeegadoo, the Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck, the Minister of Energy and Public Utilities, Mr Joe Lesjongard, and other personalities were also present.<\/p>\n

The theme retained for this year is \u201cNu Langaz-Nu Repiblik\u201d. The Festival is being organised by the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage, and the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority.<\/p>\n

In his address, Minister Teeluck underlined that the Festival emphasises on the importance of Creole language and culture in Mauritius by showcasing local talents and skills.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an opportunity to rediscover the different aspects of the creole culture in terms of arts, culinary, music and dance\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

The Creole language, he stated, has today made its place in the formal education at primary, secondary and tertiary levels, which according to him, is a matter of great pride for all Mauritians. Over the years, he indicated, Creole language has become a valuable means to cement the relations and strengthen fraternity among the population.<\/p>\n

In this context, several activities are also being held, namely: Four Bal Rann Zariko on Sunday 11 December organised by the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage in collaboration with Municipal and District Councils; Christmas Concert on Saturday 17 December at the Flic en Flac Public Beach.<\/p>\n
