Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>Prime Minister Mr. Pravind Jugnauth addressed the high-level panel on strengthening health systems in Africa through public-private sector collaboration. The head of the Mauritian government was welcomed on his arrival by Ms. Florizelle Liser, President and CEO of CORPORATE COUNCIL ON AFRICA.<\/p>\n

It was an opportunity for the Prime Minister to highlight the progress made by Mauritius in the medical sector in front of an audience of professionals in the sector and potential investors. Mr.<\/p>\n

Pravind Jugnauth thus underlined that in Mauritius 70% of the population turns to the public sector for medical needs but that the Health Sector Strategic Plan 2020-2024 has established the bases for more collaboration between the public and the private sector.<\/p>\n

in this sector. \u201cMauritius is promoting a new approach aimed at generating value-added medical activities such as advanced medicine, medical tourism, medical training as well as the emergence of a pharmaceutical industry. said the Prime Minister. Mr.<\/p>\n

Pravind Jugnauth also recalled that the need for more collaboration between the private and public sector in the medical field remains a necessity in order to achieve the sustainable development objectives established by the United Nations and the Agenda 2063 of the African Union.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister added that governments have a duty to ensure that values such as equity, solidarity and justice are respected, hence the need to move forward with regulatory frameworks governing prices practiced, quality of service, accountability and alignment of private activities with national priorities.<\/p>\n
