Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>In line with its vision to democratise access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), the ICT Authority donated personal computers to the Centre of Learning of Caritas Mauritius, yesterday, during an official ceremony held in Beau-Bassin.<\/p>\n

The Chairperson of the ICT Authority, Mr Dick Ng Sui Wa, the President of the Management Board of the Centre of Learning of Caritas Mauritius, Mr Melwyn Madelon, and other personalities were present on this occasion.<\/p>\n

In his address, Mr Ng Sui Wa highlighted that the ICT Authority plays an important role in the future of ICT in Mauritius by contributing to an efficient, competitive and optimally regulated ICT sector. He recalled that under section 16(a) of the ICT Act, the Authority is mandated to promote affordable and adequate access to quality ICT services.<\/p>\n

The donation, he stated, reiterates the strong collaboration between the ICT Authority and the Centre of Learning of Caritas Mauritius in view of enabling more students to have access to ICT and new technologies.<\/p>\n

Moreover, he indicated that the computers are modern and equipped with latest technologies which will allow the students to follow online courses in Artificial Intelligence and 3D modelling.<\/p>\n

For his part, Mr Madelon commended the ICT Authority for this donation. The Centre of Learning of Caritas Mauritius, he added, is doing its best so as to empower people through training and support.<\/p>\n
