Indeed, magistrate Vidya Mungroo-Jugurnath acceded to Akil Bissessur’s motion for the removal of the provisional charge of “possession of dangerous drugs for the purpose of distribution” which weighed on him.<\/p>\n

We all remember the sensational arrest of the lawyer on October 19, 2022 since videos of this arrest had circulated widely on social networks. We saw in particular Akil Bissessur refusing to open the door of his companion’s home to the Special Striking Team, before grabbing a bag and leaving the room where he was.<\/p>\n

This gesture had not failed to arouse suspicion about the contents of the bag in question. But the magistrate \u2013 who had shone through her role in the case of the investigation into the assassination of Kaya Kistnen \u2013 was perfectly clear: \u201cThe police have failed to investigate into the defense part of the accused.<\/p>\n

\u201d This radiation returns the police, in particular the Special Striking Team, to their responsibilities.<\/p>\n

The police commissioner, bogged down in affidavits related to the release of Bruneau Laurette, should quickly learn the lessons of this rout and bring order among his troops.<\/p>\n

It is clear that the image of the police is still a little more flayed and that the rumor of a police force having become an instrument of repression against political opponents is gaining more and more momentum.<\/p>\n
