Africa-Press<\/a> – Mauritius<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>A sub-office of the National Land Transport Authority (NLTA), positioned to be a One-stop-Shop for enhanced service delivery to its customers, has been inaugurated, today, at the Emmanuel Anquetil Building, in Port Louis.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo, proceeded with the inauguration ceremony in the presence of the Road Transport Commissioner of the NLTA, Dr Koshik Reesaul.<\/p>\n

Several services will be provided at the sub-office, namely: renewal of Motor Vehicle Licences (MVLs), transfer of ownership, guarantee documents, inscription\/removal of bond, customs clearance, and issue of fitness report. Comprising six counters, the sub-office will be opened from 8h45 to 15h from Monday to Friday.<\/p>\n

In his address, Minister Ganoo highlighted that the sub-office will help to relieve customers from the long waiting time and movements to and from the Registrar General\u2019s Department and the NLTA coupled with the parking hassles.<\/p>\n

This initiative, he underlined, aims to mitigate the high influx of customers calling at the NLTA Head Office whilst keeping pace with Government\u2019s vision towards decentralisation and digitalisation of its services.<\/p>\n

He informed that vehicle growth has kept an ascending trend over the years and has rocketed to 606,000 vehicles as at April 2021. Consequently, the number of transactions has grown exponentially, resulting in lengthy waiting time for customers, especially at the NLTA Head Office, in Cassis.<\/p>\n

This sub-office, he added, will act as a one-stop shop and aims to streamline the procedures and arrange for the NLTA and the Registrar-General\u2019s Department to be sheltered under one roof.<\/p>\n

The operation of this sub-office as from today will help to reduce the hardship of customers as all transactions concerning the registration and transfer of ownership of motor vehicles will be carried out under one single roof, he highlighted. Concurrently, this facility will assist to ease the pressure on officers working at the NLTA counters in Cassis, he said.<\/p>\n

He also announced that the NLTA is working closely with the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation for the installation of an Electronic Queue Management System to further assist customers regarding the booking of an appointment prior to visiting the sub-office at Emmanuel Anquetil Building.<\/p>\n

This system, he stated, will help to decrease the waiting time at the NLTA counter since citizens will have a specific time as per their bookings to get the requested service.<\/p>\n

Projects to decentralise and digitalise NLTA services
\nMr Ganoo pointed out that in line with Government\u2019s vision towards decentralisation and digitalisation of its services, the NLTA has revamped itself by embarking on a multitude of loadable initiatives.<\/p>\n

These include: the decentralisation of its services which were extended to SGS Ltd in Forest Side, Autocheck Ltd in Plaine Lauzun, and to Central Flacq; the introduction of an online platform as from November 2018 to enable the online renewal of MVLs in respect of private vehicles; and the setting up of an online platform for the reservation and purchase of Personalised Registration Marks which became operational since June 2020.<\/p>\n

Other projects in the pipeline are: Online Renewal of licences Phase 2 which will include renewal of MVLs in respect of Taxi, A-Carrier, B-Carrier, Road Service Licences, Contract Car and Contract Bus; Online One-stop shop service for First Registration of vehicles; and setting up of a Customer Service Hotline Centre by the NLTA to address issues or complaints in connection with NLTA operations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
