Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, has addressed his heartiest congratulations and that of the Government to Father Jean Michae\u0308l Durho\u0302ne, for his nomination as Bishop of the Diocese of Port-Louis.<\/p>\n

Father Durho\u0302ne\u2019s appointment as Bishop, today, by Pope Francis is subsequent to the resignation of Cardinal Maurice Piat as Bishop of the Diocese of Port-Louis.<\/p>\n

According to the Prime Minister, Father Durho\u0302ne\u2019s appointment is in recognition of the latter\u2019s devotion and work in Mauritius and within the Indian Ocean region. The Prime Minister recalled that the excellent relation that exists between the Diocese and the Government is based on mutual respect.<\/p>\n

He also expressed the wish to further Government\u2019s collaboration with the Diocese so as to jointly tackle the societal challenges and work towards the well being of the population.<\/p>\n
