\nJohn McAreavey and his wife Tara Brennan are celebrating five years of happy marriage this weekend.<\/p>\n

The couple, who welcomed their first child last October – a baby boy named James – posed for snaps as they enjoyed a night out at Sole seafood restaurant and grill in Dublin.<\/p>\n

John posted some of the pictures on Instagram, captioning them: “Celebrating 5 years x. ” John, whose first wife Michaela Harte was tragically murdered on their honeymoon in Mauritius in 2011, proposed to Tara in October 2015.<\/p>\n

They tied the knot in a private ceremony in Kildare in September 2016. The pair first met on a night out in Galway in 2012, when John was enjoying a staycation after a football match which was held in memory of his first wife Michaela.<\/p>\n

John asked for Tara’s number and they texted for a while before starting to date. John has previously said that his traumatic past was difficult for Tara, saying: \u201cNo girl dreams about getting married to a young man who has been married before and whose wife has been tragically murdered.<\/p>\n

However he said they have a very happy relationship, and he is very grateful to have met her.<\/p>\n

“She\u2019s fiercely protective of me,” he told Pat Kenny on Newstalk.<\/p>\n

“All she ever wants to know if that I\u2019m okay.<\/p>\n

“It has been a journey that the two of us have had to travel over the past number of years but we\u2019re very comfortable with each other and we\u2019re very secure in each other.<\/p>\n

“I guess we gave ourselves that bit of a bubble. We\u2019re a very close group of family and friends and really, that\u2019s all that matters.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
