Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Sugar Industry and Multi Ethnic Affairs of the Republic of Fiji, Mr Charan Jeath Singh, met the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, this morning, at the State House in Re\u0301duit.<\/p>\n

In a statement after the meeting, Mr Charan Jeath Singh underlined that both Mauritius and the Republic of Fiji have a local sugar industry, and can thus share their experiences and learn from each other. He added that the purpose of his visit to Mauritius is to learn how Mauritius improved its sugar industry.<\/p>\n

The Minister also underlined that he discussed with the President, issues that are being dealt with in the sugar industry, namely the shortage of labour, ageing labour population, and lack of interest of the youth for farming.<\/p>\n
