Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>After trimming his squad to 23 players, head coach Firat could hand six players their senior Harambee Stars debuts. Firat will lead the CECAFA nation in a four-nation tournament set to be held in Mauritius, and in his squad are players that could make history by earning their first caps.<\/p>\n

Benson Omala, the Football Kenya Federation Premier League’s current top scorer, is one of those players eyeing their maiden senior debuts. Omala was excluded from the Iran friendly squad after he was dropped when the travelling team to face the Middle East nation was constituted in March.<\/p>\n

His inclusion this time around offers him a chance to test his league\u2019s top form on the international stage. However, Firat might be tempted to stick with Michael Olunga, a tried and tested goalscorer, thereby denying the former Kisumu Day star a chance to make his debut.<\/p>\n

Kevin Otiala of the Kariobangi Sharks is another player who could make his debut. The defender, however, has to beat stiff competition from experienced players like Aboud Omar, David Ochieng, Daniel Sakari, Daniel Anyembe, Robinson Kamura, and Eric Ouma.<\/p>\n

Gor Mahia\u2019s Boniface Omondi is also on the verge of a senior debut. Although he has been viewed as one of the top players in the Football Kenya Federation for some time now, the former Nzoia Sugar and Wazito star has yet to feature for the national team.<\/p>\n

This season, he has proven to be a key figure in K\u2019Ogalo\u2019s squad, which is fighting to wrestle the title from Tusker. Joseph Mwangi has been an inspiring figure in Nzoia Sugar\u2019s set-up and has a chance to debut for Harambee Stars.<\/p>\n

The Sugar Millers have given Gor Mahia and Tusker a run for their money in the ongoing season, and Mwangi has been at the centre of their impressive run.<\/p>\n

Kenya Police\u2019s Charles Ouma and Moses Shummah of Kakamega Homeboyz are the others hoping to earn their debuts in the non-competitive tournament in Mauritius.<\/p>\n

Shummah has proven to be a reliable figure, as he has stood out amongst his Homeboyz teammates. The Kakamega-based outfit will be vying to win the 2023 FKF Cup when they take on Tusker, and Shummah will be expected to perform better than he has before.<\/p>\n
