Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Home Affairs and External Communications, Minister for Rodrigues, Outer Islands and Territorial Integrity, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, received, today, at the New Treasury Building, in Port Louis, the Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry of the Republic of Fiji, Mr Charan Jeath Singh.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the Fijian Minister affirmed that discussions focused on the common issues between Mauritius and Fiji, including the sugar industry. He recalled that both countries shared a similar history concerning the establishment of the sugar industry.<\/p>\n

Mr Charan Jeath Singh added that information was shared on the means and ways to rebuild this particular industry. According to Fiji\u2019s Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry, other avenues of cooperation and the possibilities of contracting Memoranda of Understanding in different fields were also mentioned during the courtesy call. He stated that further talks would have to be held between the relevant line Ministries of Mauritius and Fiji in this regard.<\/p>\n
