Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>Stars were looking to wrap the Four Nations tournament with yet another win after beating Pakistan by a solitary goal in the first match played last Wednesday at the same venue.<\/p>\n

Harambee Stars bowed out of the Four Nations tournament with their heads down after suffering an embarrassing 1-0 defeat to the lowly-ranked Mauritius on Sunday at the Cote D\u2019or National Sports Complex.<\/p>\n

Stars were expected to have an easy time on the pitch and perhaps pump in goals given the rift in rankings between the two countries but the Kenyan boys came out second in the clash after conceding in the first half.<\/p>\n

The Kenyan team that is made up of players who ply their trade abroad is ranked 102 on the global standings with the Islandic nation sitting 180th on the FIFA log.<\/p>\n

Kengy Saramandif netted the all-important goal for Mauritius in the 22nd minute, capitalizing on a goalkeeping error by Bryne Omondi to slot the ball home into an empty net.<\/p>\n

Stars were looking to wrap the Four Nations tournament with yet another win after beating Pakistan by a solitary goal in the first match played last Wednesday at the same venue.<\/p>\n

Prior to kick off, Stars head coach Engin Firat handed Gor Mahia forward Benson Omala his debut as the forward replaced Moses Shumah who started in the previous encounter against Pakistan. Firat also introduced Victor Omune and Clifton Miheso in the starting team for Daniel Sakari and Abud Omar who dropped to the bench.<\/p>\n

Scores of clear-cut chances fell on the way of the Kenyan team but the wastefulness witnessed in front of the goal worked in favour of the host as they held on the slim advantage up to the final whistle.<\/p>\n

Mauritius opened the tournament with a 3-0 win over Pakistan before losing 3-1 to Djibouti who have been impressive throughout the tournament. Kenya was supposed to have played Djibouti last Sunday but missed the encounter after failing to secure a flight to Mauritius on time.<\/p>\n
