Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The annual Dragon Boat Festival, which is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month in the Chinese calendar, was held on 18 June 2023, at the Caudan Waterfront in Port Louis, and showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Sino-Mauritian community.<\/p>\n

The festival was a joint initiative of the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage and the Embassy of the People\u2019s Republic of China, in collaboration with the Dragon and Lion Dance Federation, the China Cultural Centre, the Chinese Speaking Union, the United Chinese Association and Le Caudan Waterfront Ltd.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck, the Ambassador of the People\u2019s Republic of China to Mauritius, Mr Liying Zhu, and other personalities graced the event.<\/p>\n

Various cultural activities, namely, a traditional de\u0301file\u0301 of lions and dragons, a cultural programme by local artists, as well as Chinese dance and song performances, were also organised during the day, in addition to the dragon boat race.<\/p>\n

It is recalled that the festival also bears testimony to the longstanding friendship that exists between Mauritius and the People\u2019s Republic of China.<\/p>\n
