Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>A groundbreaking ceremony was held, yesterday, by the Ministry of National Infrastructure and Community Development, for the reconstruction of Pont Bruniquel at Baie du Tombeau.<\/p>\n

The Minister of National Infrastructure and Community Development, Mr Mahendranuth Hurreeram; the Minister of Labour, Human Resource Development and Training, Minister of Commerce and Consumer Protection, Mr Soodesh Callichurn; and other personalities were also present on this occasion.<\/p>\n

This project, to the tune of some Rs 171,2 million, consists of the construction a new bridge of 12 metres wide while realigning the road over a length of 700 metres, with footpaths on both sides.<\/p>\n

Traffic lights, as well as street lighting, will also be installed so as to enhance road safety in this region. Works are expected to be completed by 25 April 2024.<\/p>\n

Following the groundbreaking ceremony, a site visit was effected at Riche Terre in a bid to take stock of the progress of works regarding the solar streetlighting project along the B33 Road.<\/p>\n

A total of 57 poles equipped with solar lightings are currently being installed over some two kilometres for improving visibility on this road at night.<\/p>\n

The project has already been implemented in Petit Camp over some 1,2 kilometres and same is expected to be carried out in different regions around the island.<\/p>\n
