Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>A delegation led by the Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Mr Liu Jianchao, is on an official visit to Mauritius from 22 to 25 July 2023.<\/p>\n

In this context, Minister Jianchao, accompanied by the Ambassador of the People\u2019s Republic of China to Mauritius, Mr Liying Zhu, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo, yesterday, at the seat of the Ministry in Port-Louis.<\/p>\n

The courtesy call was followed by a working session during which both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen existing bilateral relations and reinforce cooperation in priority areas such as renewable energy, pharmaceutical industry and climate.<\/p>\n

Minister Ganoo highlighted that the people-to-people relationship between Mauritius and China dates back to more than 50 years. \u201cThe bilateral ties were established on 15 April 1972 and since, the relations from state-to-state level have been blossoming with the realisation of several major projects\u201d, he stated.<\/p>\n

The Mauritius-China relationship, he emphasised, is based on trust, solidarity, mutual respect and friendly cooperation. Minister Ganoo indicated that some 100 Mauritians availed from training by the Chinese authorities and more than 650 public officers were given online training opportunities.<\/p>\n

The Minister is confident that a resilient collaboration between the two countries will sustain a promising future and will present new avenues of cooperation.<\/p>\n

For his part, Minister Jianchao, underlined that he is looking forward to a stronger and more prosperous relationship between Mauritius and China in the years to come.<\/p>\n

China, he stressed, will continue to work together with Mauritius along with other African partners for common prosperity and sustainable socio-economic development. He further indicated that the authorities are in the process of re-organising more direct flight services between China and Mauritius.<\/p>\n
