Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus with residence in South Africa, Mr Antonis Mandritis, presented his Credentials to the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, this morning, at the State House, Le Re\u0301duit.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the High Commissioner \u200bshared that he had a very fruitful meeting with the President where the traditionally excellent relations between the two countries were confirmed. Relations, he noticed, that are based on mutual respect and particularly mutual conditions as both countries were once under colonial rules.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Mr Antonis Mandritis indicated that he had the opportunity to inform the President about the latest developments concerning the \u2018Cyprus Conflict\u2019, which is an ongoing dispute between the leadership of the Greek Cypriot community in the southern portion of Cyprus and that of the Turkish Cypriot community, situated in the North.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also conversed about ways to enhance even further the relations between our two countries in different sectors since both countries are Members of several common Organizations such as the United Nations, the Commonwealth, and the Archipelagic and Island States Forum,\u201d the High Commissioner said.<\/p>\n

Finally, he pointed out that the essential part of our bilateral relations as two small states is based on our respect for International Law and the Charter of the United Nations.<\/p>\n

About the Cyprus High Commissioner High Commissioner Antonis Mandritis has been posted to several countries in the past, including Beijing in the People\u2019s Republic of China and Mexico City.<\/p>\n

Following his tour in Mexico, he was stationed in Tel Aviv where he was responsible for the Palestinian Territories for nine years before returning to the Republic of Cyprus.<\/p>\n

In August 2015, Mr Antonis Mandritis was appointed Consul General to Greece\u2019s second-largest city, Thessaloniki, and, in September 2021, he was assigned to the Republic of South Africa.<\/p>\n
