Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr. Alan Ganoo, addressed the BRICS-Africa Outreach and BRICS Plus Dialogue on Thursday, August 24, 2023 in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n

The Head of Diplomacy represents Mauritius at this conference in replacement of the Prime Minister, Mr. Pravind Jugnauth. This conference is being held on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit and aims to promote political and economic rapprochement between this bloc and Africa as well as emerging and developing countries.<\/p>\n

The theme of the conference is: BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development and Inclusive Multilateralism. The Minister of Foreign Affairs immediately praised the President of South Africa, Mr.<\/p>\n

Cyril Ramaphosa, for the initiative to engage the African continent in this dialogue on a new world order, driven by multilateralism which aims to be more inclusive.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe presence of BRICS alongside Africa is a game-changer.<\/p>\n

This will undeniably contribute to an environment conducive to the development of Africa, based on a fair and equitable system of governance,\u201d underlined Minister Alan Ganoo.<\/p>\n

The consultation between Africa and the BRICS bloc on issues of vital importance for developing countries relates, maintains the Minister, to sustainable development, financing for development, climate change, peace and security and the need for a rules-based multilateral system and the vulnerability of small island developing States, of which Mauritius is a part.<\/p>\n

In terms of economic growth, African countries can rely on a rapprochement with the BRICS bloc to aspire to new opportunities in terms of access to larger markets, but also in terms of investments and technology transfer.<\/p>\n

and cooperation. \u201cBRICS can also deploy development financing, formerly the monopoly of advanced countries,\u201d says the Minister. BRICS, according to him, opens the way to a multipolar world and the possibility of reforming the rules of international governance structures in order to better respond to the aspirations of our populations.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur food security, our energy security and even the security of our people are often the first victims of global upheaval.<\/p>\n

We will therefore have to step up our collaboration with BRICS so that we can influence major political and economic decisions that affect our well-being and our common future,\u201d declared the Minister of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n
