Africa-Press – Mauritius. <\/strong><\/span>From September 13 to 15, 2023, INS Sharda, a prominent Offshore Patrol Vessel of the Indian Navy, paid a significant visit to Port Louis, Mauritius. Prior to its arrival, the vessel conducted joint Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) surveillance operations alongside the Mauritius National Coast Guard (MNCG), underscoring the commitment of both nations to maritime security.<\/p>\n

Upon entering Port Louis, INS Sharda was welcomed with great warmth by the Mauritius Coast Guard Dornier and the Mauritian Police Force Band. During the visit, the vessel\u2019s crew engaged in numerous professional interactions and reciprocal training visits.<\/p>\n

MNCG personnel were provided with a guided tour of INS Sharda, affording them insight into the vessel\u2019s roles and capabilities. Throughout the ship\u2019s stay, personnel from both the Indian Navy and MNCG actively participated in professional training sessions and deck visits.<\/p>\n

The crew of INS Sharda conducted sessions covering various aspects of firefighting, damage control, and small arms handling. Additionally, a joint yoga session was organized onboard, fostering camaraderie and shared wellness between the two maritime forces.<\/p>\n

Commander Navin Renj, the Commanding Officer of INS Sharda, paid courtesy calls to Mrs. K Nandini Singla, the High Commissioner of India to Mauritius, and the Commissioner of the Mauritius Police Force, further reinforcing the spirit of collaboration and friendship.<\/p>\n

On September 15, during its departure, INS Sharda once again joined the Mauritius National Coast Guard units for joint EEZ surveillance operations, marking yet another milestone in the enhanced maritime cooperation between the two nations.<\/p>\n

This visit by INS Sharda is a testament to the Indian Navy\u2019s steadfast dedication to realizing the Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister\u2019s vision of \u2018Security and Growth for All in the Region\u2019 (SAGAR), which places a strong emphasis on fostering security and prosperity in the Indian Ocean Region.<\/p>\n
